The Royal Duke Pub, Okotoks Alberta
As we were travelling around the Okotoks area, we decided to eat out rather than have to cook once we got home. We ended up at the Royal Duke Pub which is located along Elizabeth Street in Olde Towne Okotoks.
This is a hotel and a pub/restaurant and is a large blue building in the centre of town. Inside it is quite reminiscent of a British style pub with wooden beams and wooden furniture, however it also has a few large screen tv's showing sport, so more like a sports bar.
We were greeted at the door and shown to a booth. We were asked if we wanted drinks, Chris had a coffee and I had water, we were given menus and left to decide what to have.
The menu was quite extensive with lots of appetizer options and main meals including salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, pizza and steaks. They also had a section called Traditional English Fare which had fish and chips, bangers and mash and several pie options.
Chris decided to go for the Duke Burger and I had the Chicken Pot Pie which came with fries. We did have a bit of a wait for the food, but it was worth it. The presentation was good and they tasted as good as they looked.
They also had a few good dessert options such as apple crumble and chocolate lava cake, but unfortunately, we were too full after the meal to give them a try.
We really enjoyed our food and in total it came to just under $40 before the tip. I'm sure if we are int he area again, we will pop back and try something else. Secretly, I'd like to have the potato skins as an appetizer and then go straight for the chocolate lava cake dessert. LOL!
