New Year full moon over the Rocky Mountains

New Year full moon over the Rocky Mountains

The full moon over New Year managed to position itself right over the Rocky Mountains the other morning and Chris managed to get a great photo.

This moon was a wolf moon apparently as it appears extra large and wolves howl at it!  This photo was taken from our balcony and as you can see the Rockies have had quite a bit of snow, as have we, but it is the cold that we have been suffering most from. The week between Christmas and New Year the temps were into the minus 40 C, which believe me, is a tad chilly.

All the outdoor New Year events were canceled due to the cold and it being too dangerous for people to be out. They still had a fireworks display which was televised so everyone could watch it. We watched the fireworks that were let off from the Calgary Tower from our apartment, but they were a little disappointing.

I'm on a winning streak for some reason, but not complaining!
