Went for a walk, 12.8 km later...

On Saturday we decided to go for a walk and basically followed our noses. First, we went west, then north and ended up alongside the Bow River. So, we decided to follow the river walk which runs along both sides of the river.

We crossed over to the north side of the river and walked along that side until we reached a park which had a large birthday sign for Canada's 150th.

Continuing along the river walk we crossed again and eventually ended up in the downtown area and had another wander around there. Whilst in this area we had a hot chocolate and cake in Starbucks. Well, you have to don't you!

Next, we made our way up to 17th Avenue which is another busy area in Calgary, but mainly in the evening as it has lots of bars and restaurants. When we visited in the day it was much quieter, almost desertedin fact.

There were some interesting things to see there including this amazing piece. I have no idea what it actually is, but it looks really cool. Something to do with trains, I think.

We also saw this outside Roots.

I'm not sure what they sell in this store!

On our way, we popped into Best Buy and Staples and then eventually made our way back home. In the end, we had covered 12.8 km! Not bad for what was going to be a short stroll.

That is the great thing about this city, you can walk everywhere, well, pretty much everywhere. Just make sure you have the right footware on!
