At last we have the keys to our new apartment
What an exciting and busy day, We started off the day by doing a few errands, then we went to our storage locker to pick up some of our things to take to the apartment later. Then we had a bite to eat and went into town for our apartment orientation.
We got to the leasing office a bit early, so had to wait, but chatted with some of the girls there. We were then introduced to Siobhan who was going to do our orientation. She showed us all the amenities of the building as well as the more mundane things such as where to park, place our garbage and recycling and then showed us around our suite and how to use things. She was very pleasant and helpful.
Next, we collected our truck and drove to our parking spot. OMG, it's quite a tight spot for a large truck and I am really not looking forward to getting in and out of it, but I guess with practice I'll manage. It's actually a larger spot than some other buildings we saw.
Having collected some stuff from the truck we went back up to our apartment and when we entered we saw a big welcome basket with lots of info. This was a nice touch. It included some cleaning materials, bottled water, crisps, and chocolate.
We spent some time getting used to the apartment and where things were. I just love my new modern kitchen. It has brand new stainless steel appliances and all the cupboards and drawers are soft close, which I love. The countertop has lots of sparkly bits in it too which is always a good thing!
One thing I liked about this apartment compared with other we saw is that it has a full-size washer and dryer. Most of the others had much smaller ones which mean that you end up doing many more wash loads and sometimes cannot fit larger items such as sheets and towels in easily. Women will understand!
We have two full bathrooms, one en-suite and one other. They are really nicely finished and also have soft close drawers and cupboards.
And a few other pics of the suite.
Once we had finished unloading our stuff, we left and ate out then went back to the hotel. Tomorrow we have a delivery from Ikea and we also have the Telus guy coming to switch on our internet and TV.
Our apartment came with a year's free 25 Mbps internet, TV and phone, but we haven't had a landline for years, so didn't want that and we didn't really want TV as we cut the cord a year ago. However, when I phoned Telus to ask if we could change some of the packages we ended up with 150 Mbps up and down and their Essentials TV package with two other packages including things channels like History, Discovery, Nat Geo, Space, and others.
Unfortunately, the upgrade is not part of the free package but is still an absolute bargain for only $20 per month for both TV and the internet for the first year. We didn't really want TV, but it would have actually cost us $25 per month without it, so it was better to have it than not.
So, that was our day, and another exciting one tomorrow hoefully.
