From lush Ontario to straight, boring Manitoba

From lush Ontario to straight, boring Manitoba

We set out this morning for our longest travel day so far from Thunder Bay to Winnipeg, Manitoba. At first, the journey was similar to the previous Ontario legs with lush scenery, lakes and millions of trees. We stopped off at one particularly pretty spot.

We spotted this old truck too.

We stopped off a few times, but our last stop in Ontario was in Kenora for a Tim's. Soon after this, we entered Manitoba. Also, by now we were in the Central time zone, so we went back an hour in time.

I have seen photos of Manitoba and have been told of the straight long roads and flat landscape and today we experience it for ourselves. It really is very flat and the roads so far have been very straight and very long.

We caught this guy trying to smuggle a tree into Winnipeg!

We are staying overnight at the Homewood Suites in Winnipeg and found the city to be very confusing and a little scary. Here are some random pics of some of the places we passed by. It seems to have an exceptionally large train station!

We have now checked into the hotel which is very nice (thanks again to Hilton points). We have a king suite and have just taken advantage of the manager's reception. This is basically a free evening meal that you can help yourself to. Each evening (Mon - Thurs) a different option is available. Tonight it was hot dogs, salad, soup and drinks. It saved us having to go out for food and as we didn't want too much, it was just perfect for us.
