OMG, Boxing Day was bloody cold, but it gave us an amazing sunrise!
I know I've posted a lot of sunrises, sunsets and general sky pics on this blog, but can you blame me when we nature treats us to such amazing views.
On Boxing Day morning we were experiencing frigid temperatures, and I mean bloody cold! With the windchill, it was -39.9C. Like I said, bloody cold.
In Ontario, we have experienced severe cold, just like this, but we have never experienced it in a city from the 32nd floor before, and oh, what a treat. Because the air was so cold we had freezing fog hanging around close to the ground. This gave the city an almost eerie look, especially first thing in the morning just before the sun came up. This, mixed with the steam coming from the buildings was just amazing.
But, oh boy, when the sun did start making an appearance, it totally transformed everything. Chris took these photos, now you will see what I mean.
Wow, is the only word I can use to describe it. It may be cold, but it sure helped us have the most spectacular sunrise yet.
A bit later, once the day had started it looked less dramatic and colourful, but just as awesome. This is my slightly less impressive photo. of the same area, but with full daylight. By this time, a lot of the fog had dissipated, but we still had all the steam from the buildings. It's reminiscent of a victorian London scene, but then it would have been smoke!
