It's starting to look a lot like Christmas in Calgary
Now Christmas is only a few weeks away, most of the places in Calgary have Christmas decorations in place. Yesterday we popped up to the Market Mall and found there was a moose loose!
I think he is really cool and pretty huge!
Next, we wandered downtown to get some fresh air and found these giant baubles. Note, they are chained to the ground, which is pretty sad. Also, I'd like to see the size of the house of the person who decided to steal them!
Bankers Hall is a small shopping mall/business centre downtown. This place had a pretty amazing lighting display along with a very large Christmas tree.
There are, what seemed to be, thousand of light strands hanging from the ceiling. It looked really pretty and my photos really don't do it justice.
On the ground level, you can appreciate the tree without it being obstructed by lights.
Just over the road from Bankers is The Core shopping centre which is also all decked out with Christmas decorations. They have dozens of Christmas trees all over the place, which are part of the Find Christmas Downtown event. The trees were decorated by local business and the public, and in total there are 150 of them.
The trees will be on display in the mall until 20 December, then they will be picked up and delivered to local families in need. I think that is a really good idea.
There is one tree that will not be donated and will stay put in The Core. This one!
When we returned to our apartment building the staff were assembling a tree in the lobby. Apparently, it will be 12 feet tall, and there will be one in each lobby. Once they are up and decorated, I'll get a photo of them too.
