Francis Beidler Forest, Harleyville, South Carolina
After we had been everywhere we wanted to go at Magnolia Plantation we decided to go to another swamp, this time, the Francis Beidler Forest. This was $10 each and it is a much smaller place which has a boardwalk through the swamp you follow round.
This is a really cool place as you feel as though you are in another world, in fact, another planet.
We saw some wildlife including a few lizards that ran too fast to get a photo, but I did manage to get some photos of some of the other animals we saw. This included a brown water snake which was pretty large and if you look at the photo you can see that it has recently eaten as it has a swelling towards the end of its body. Yum!
We also say, probably the coolest caterpillar ever. It was a Whitemarked Tussock Moth Caterpillar!
After completing the walk we drove the 45 minutes back to the hotel, then after lazing around for an hour we went across the road from the hotel to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner.
We are now back at the hotel and are going to have a lazy evening ready for the drive to Florida tomorrow where we have a villa booked. Can't wait to see it - hope it lives up to the reviews and photos.
