TownPlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre
We are staying at TownPlace Suites Scranton Wilkes-Barre for one night whilst on our way to Virginia. We have stayed in the area before, but never at this hotel.
It is located in an area where there are several hotels and restaurants all together. It is also a short walk to an outdoor mall. Some of the hotels in the location, including this one look very new.
This is an all-suite hotel and we had booked a king room. We have never stayed at a TownPlace before, so it was a new experience for us.
We booked a king studio suite and it had a small kitchen area as you enter the door which had a large fridge freezer, sink, dishwasher, microwave and hob. Opposite the kitchen was a small wardrobe. The main area had a king bed, desk area and sofa. the bathroom was small but adequate with tub with shower over, sink and of course a toilet. There was also a larger wardrobe in the bathroom.
The room was compact but had everything you would need for a few nights stay. If we had been staying longer I would upgrade to a one bed suite which has a separate bedroom and presumably a bit larger. But it was fine for us for one night. The bed was reasonably comfortable, a little soft for our tastes but not too bad.
In the morning the complimentary breakfast was served downstairs near the lobby. The seating area was small, with some tables and benches. The breakfast was served out of an adjoining room. There was no hot option, but there was cereal, yoghurt, muffins, pastries and a few bagels and English muffins to toast. There was also a waffle maker. We have had much better breakfasts at similar hotels, so we were not too impressed, but it was okay.
In all I would say this hotel was okay, but not great. It looked quite fancy, but it was more style than substance.
